Why the name Safar
The month of Safar is one of the twelve Hijri months, and it is the month after Muharram. Some of them said: He was called so because of the zeros in Mecca of its inhabitants (i.e. they were free from its people) if they traveled there. It has been said: They called the month Safar because they used to invade the tribes during it and leave anyone they came across zero possessions (i.e. they would rob him of his possessions and he would have no possessions).
The pessimism of Safar
The pessimism of the month of Safar was well known among people in the pre-Islamic era, and its vestiges are still present among some of those who call themselves Muslims.
