Chabane calendar 2025

The Chabane calendar (eighth month of the Muslim calendar) is used by Muslims to fast this month which precedes Ramadan 2025. The Prophet peace be upon him, had as habit of fasting several days of the month of Chaabane to prepare for the blessed month.

Origin of the name

The word 'Chaaben' means to disperse, what the Arabs did after the holy month of Rajab (month when war is forbidden). Another meaning of Chaabane, 'the month between two' because it is between the month of Rajab and that of Ramadane

Key dates

One of the most important events that happened there was the change of the qiblah to the Kaaba instead of Jerusalem on Shaabaan 17 of the second year of the Hijrah. There was also the battle of Bani al-Mustaliq in the fifth year of the hijir.

Fasting the month of Chabane

Osama bin Zaid, may God be pleased with them both, reported that he said: I said: O Messenger of God, I do not haven't seen fasting for a month like in Chaabane? He said, “It is a month that people neglect between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a month in which the deeds of the servants are noted. So I like my work to be picked up while I'm fasting. Narrated by Al-Nasaa'i.
